A delegation from the College of Education, Seoul National University including Dean, Prof Kim Jongwook, Associate Dean, Prof Park Sung-hyeok, Associate Dean, Prof Jeon Sanghak, and Head of the Department of Education, Prof Kim Changdai, was visiting the College of Education, Zhejiang University from 21st to 18th October 2010.
A symposium was held on 19th October, in which Dean of the College of Education, Zhejiang University, Prof Xu Xiaozhou warmly welcomed the delegation. Agreements were reached on a range of issues such as research collaboration and academic exchange in a friendly environment.
The ceremony for signing the agreement was held at Room 520 at 10am, chaired by Associate Dean of the College of Education, Prof Gu Jianmin. Prof Xu Xiaozhou said in the welcome speech that SNU had been excellent at teaching and research, and that signing the partnership agreement would contribute actively to the development of the College of education at ZJU. Prof Kim Jongwook,on behalf of the College of education at SNU, said he was very pleased to sign the agreement, which would provide a basis for deeper mutual understanding and future cooperation. Among those attending the ceremony were Associate Dean, Prof Liu Zhengwei, Head of the Department of Education, Prof Wu Xueping, Director of the Center for Education Psychology, Prof Wang Jin, Associate Director of the Center for Curriculum and Teaching, Zhang Wenjun, Associate Director of the Institute for Educational Leadership and Policy, Wang Aiguo, Associate Head of the Department of Sports Education, Zhou Lijun.
After the ceremony, Prof Jeon Sanghak、and Kim Changdai gave presentations on “College of Education,SNU” and“The development of Korea Education: Review, Challenges and Responses” respectively. The former introduced the history and structure of SNU. The latter focused on education policy and governance in Korea since 1945. The presentations were followed by a Q&A session.
The delegation visited Jingdu Primary School, Fengfan Education Group, and Zhe Da Fu Zhong in Hangzhou on 20th and 21st October. Through classroom observation and interviews, the professors from Korea learned about the development of school education in Hangzhou and gave high appraisal.
Signing the agreement will not only bring quality educational resources to China, diversify collaboration channels in the College of education, provide a basis for building a world class college, but will open a window for Korean academia to better understand Chinese higher education which will promote collaboration and exchange between China and Korea.
